How to recover and restore deleted pages in WordPress?

It happens that when working with WordPress we accidentally delete a page or entry. This may happen by mistake or due to a system failure. In this case, we wonder how to recover pages in WordPress. Fortunately, there are various methods that allow you to recover this data. In this article we will discuss a few of them.

1. Basket

WordPress has a built-in recycle bin, just like computers. When you delete a page, it is moved to the trash rather than completely deleted. You can easily restore deleted pages from trash by following these steps:

  • Log in to the WordPress administration panel.
  • Go to 'Pages' > 'All Pages'.
  • Select the 'Trash' tab.
  • Find the page you want to restore, click on it and select 'Restore'.

Please note that pages are kept in the trash for 30 days. After this time, they are permanently deleted.

2. WP Rollback Plugin

'WP Rollback' is a plugin that allows you to restore previous versions of pages and entries. Its installation and use are:

  • Log in to the WordPress administration panel.
  • Go to 'Plugins' > 'Add New'.
  • Search for 'WP Rollback' and install the plugin.
  • Activate the plugin and then go to 'Pages' > 'All Pages'.
  • Select the page you want to restore, click 'Rollback' and select the version to restore.

Please note that this plugin restores a version of the page, not the page itself, which may be interpreted slightly differently.

3. Site backup

Another method of recovering deleted pages is to restore the page from a backup. Many hosting companies offer automatic website backups. If your hosting offers this, contact them to restore your pages.

You can also use backup plugins such as 'UpdraftPlus' or 'BackWPup'. They allow you to create a backup copy of the website and database, which allows you to restore the website to its state before deletion.

4. Restore from database

If none of the above methods worked, it is still possible to restore the page directly from the database. However, this method is quite complicated and requires some technical knowledge. It involves accessing the database using phpMyAdmin and restoring deleted pages.

Even though WordPress data recovery is possible, prevention is the most important thing. Regularly backing up your website and data is the best way to protect yourself against data loss. Moreover, it is always worth checking what we are deleting before we actually do it. Let us remember that prevention is better than treatment.
